It gives me a great pleasure to welcome you to our website.
The Women Surgeons Committee (WSC) is a committee that was established in the 21st of December 2018, to represents the interest of the Women Surgeons of Kuwait in the Kuwait Association of Surgeons (KAS), which is a non-profit professional organization of surgeons that aims to enable surgeons to achieve and maintain the highest standards of surgical practice and patient care.
The WSC is the fruitful result of the efforts of many women surgeons who believed that together they can do better and make a difference. An idea no matter how brilliant it is, without an action, it remains an illusion. Here at WSC, we blend our amazing ideas with our relentless work to craft creatively and make those ideas a reality.
In our early start, we have assessed the needs of the WSK and created a set of goals to match those needs at that point of time. We are aware that our needs may change and accordingly we will be adjusting to meet those needs.
The WSC has many great achievements within relatively a short period of time, it hasn’t always been easy, we’ve had to adjust and make hard decisions but our growth has been undeniable.
To highlight some of these achievements locally and regionally, we have taken the initiative to shed the light on issues related to gender equity in surgery, pioneered the historical documentation of women surgeons in Kuwait and the Gulf and connected women surgeons in the region to create further opportunities and support of our mission. We strived to create an environment that fosters self-development and self-wellness and to cultivate creativity and innovation by starting two long-term programs; the mentorship program and the WSK Research Network. In the community, our goals were to raise awareness of the women surgeons roles and work and to lead through service. These efforts has generated a positive impact so far. Internationally, we have established a partnership with the Association of Women Surgeons (AWS), the largest organization supporting women surgeons throughout their careers, and have established contact with other international organizations to share our experiences and support our mission.
We are committed to move forward honoring our core values, tackling challenges resiliently and serving our mission passionately. We will continue to work hand in hand with KAS and other organizations to empower, aspire and celebrate the WSK and support the growth of women surgeons regionally and globally.
I now invite you to explore our website and other social media platforms and encourage you to join us and be a part of this exciting journey.
Thank you for your valuable time.
